This system is intended to reduce bias towards or against specific players. Staff are also required to disclose if they are friends, allies, enemies, or competitors with the appellant. For punishments of one month or longer, an Admin must review the evidence and approve the outcome.
Please keep in mind that you may only appeal if your punishment is longer than 24 hours. This does not include punishments that are exactly 24 hours. If you file an appeal for a punishment that does not meet this requirement, it will be closed.
Appeals take time to be reviewed so please be patient! Staff will take some time to discuss your appeal and come to a conclusion.
If you believe the staff member was being biased against you for punishing you and not others, you are always free to file a player report so we may take action against the others. Please provide the usernames of the other players as well as screenshots of them breaking the rules in your report. Appeals are not the place to report players nor is it the place to attack staff members for doing their job.
The more times you break our rules, the harsher the punishments will get. Someone in a situation with you may have a completely different punishment history and therefore receive a different length punishment - or possibly even a warning. Past behavior does matter.
When you are writing your appeal, please focus on why we would want you back in the community instead of only focusing on why you want to return.
Before appealing, you must know why staff punished you. Check the infractions page on the Forums to see the reason given for punishment.
Review the network rules and the list of Allowed/Disallowed Mods so you understand what staff feels you did wrong. If you still don’t understand the reason for your ban, contact staff for more information. It is best to contact the banning staff.
If you sincerely feel your punishment was false, explain why you believe that. Keep in mind staff must have evidence to punish you, so claiming innocence when guilty rarely works.
If you realize your ban was legit, your best option is to apologize for your actions and agree to abide by the rules in the future. In some cases, staff will give you another chance. For most temp bans you will need to serve out your original punishment if you are guilty.
Some offenses will earn you a position on our blacklist. A spot on the blacklist means you are unlikely to be allowed back into our community.
Do NOT evade your punishment by playing on an alt or another IP. This decreases your chances of having appeals accepted.
If you are upset about your punishment, it is best to wait until your anger subsides before filing an appeal. Submitting an appeal full of insults and profanity will rarely help you get unbanned. Much better to speak with facts and focus on your behavior rather than others.
You were punished for your behavior, not anyone else’s. Discussing the wrongdoings of other players rarely helps. If you do want to discuss others’ behavior include their IGN and proof of the behavior. If you aren’t willing to name others, then mentioning them will not help with your appeal.
Take responsibility for your actions. Lying about the situation is not going to help your case.
Do not attack staff or use profanity in your appeal. We are not obligated to assist players that demean, insult, or attack us. Staff do not volunteer their time to be attacked and insulted.
Staff make the rules and decide appropriate punishments. The rules are not about you specifically, they are about protecting the community and providing an enjoyable game experience for everyone. You agreed to the rules by playing on ManaCube. You are not welcome on the server if you do not intend to follow the rules.
Your appeal will be put into “reviewing” once a staff member has “claimed” the appeal. This staff member is responsible for overseeing the appeal process; however, they do not decide the outcome on their own. While your appeal is in “reviewing” the evidence held against you will be reviewed by the entire staff team.
If needed, staff may contact you during the appeal process for further clarification of the situation through Forums or Discord. The team will consider the evidence, the strength and quality of your appeal, your history on the server, and any other relevant information when deciding the outcome. This process may take as little as a day for minor infractions to several days or longer for complex situations involving multiple players. As a general rule, appeals for permanent punishments take longer to decide.
If you were falsely punished or if the evidence held against you is deemed insufficient, your appeal will be accepted. Your punishment will be lifted and pruned from your infraction history. The infraction will not be held against you when deciding punishments for any future rule violations.
When punishment is reduced, the infraction remains on your record but the length and/or severity of the punishment is reduced. For bans, the length may be shortened or it may be changed to a permanent mute. For mutes, the length may be shortened or it may be reduced to a /shout ban, /ah ban, or lesser restriction. This typically happens when staff determines the punishment was justified but feels the player is unlikely to violate the rule again. It can also happen if staff have made an error in the duration of the punishment.
Having an appeal reduced to a lesser sentence is not the same as having it accepted. Your prior punishments will remain on your record and your infraction counts will not reset.
Reducing a perm punishment means that any further infractions may result in the perm punishment being reinstated. This will make it much harder to have your punishment reduced in the future.
A rejected appeal means that your punishment will remain as there is credible evidence of you breaking our rules. A further explanation with details will be provided.
Evidence will be provided in most cases. Circumstances, where evidence is withheld, will be explained further below in the ‘Evidence section.
If the initial appeal for an infraction is rejected, you will have 10 days to rebut our decision. If evidence is to be provided, it will be sent with the rebuttal offer. Your rebuttal is your chance to provide an alternate explanation for the evidence held against you.
Please note that evidence will not always be offered. If evidence is provided, we recommend addressing it in your rebuttal.
An admin will assist you in these cases by giving you information and directions on how to resolve the situation. To get unbanned from a chargeback, you must repay the payments that were charged back.
Appeals are closed without a review of evidence in specific circumstances. Typically it is due to insufficient information, inappropriate behavior, e.g. attacking staff, or because a player has appealed too soon.
Global bans affect your status across all realms. The majority of bans are global.
Local bans affect only one realm. They are much less common. They are typically given on realms such as KitPvP, Factions, and Events.
‘Illegal Client Modifications’ is another type of local ban that you may receive, This is mainly issued when hacks are detected.
Bans due to behavior during community events will typically result in a local ban from the Event server. If you are banned there, you may appeal and we will consider unbanning you from Events. Your behavior on other realms will be considered in the decision.
Submitting a plot with a copied build will result in a grade ban. You are able to appeal these in the creative subforum labeled ‘Appeal Your Grade Ban’. This process is similar to how normal appeals are handled. The only difference is that only creative staff will be participating in the discussion of these appeals.
The Locked rank is often given to Parkour players when appealing a perm ban. These bans may be appealed in the parkour subforum labeled ‘Locked Rank Appeal’. These appeals follow the same process "normal" appeals go through; however, only parkour staff and Admins are involved. It is important to know that your behavior in-game and on the discord while you are locked will be considered during the discussion of your appeal.
All mutes given on ManaCube are global. There are no local mutes. You also cannot appeal a mute on one specific game mode.
There are four basic categories of chat offenses; Minor, Moderate, Major, and Malicious. See below for information on these categories.
A minor chat offense is one that is typically more of an annoyance, like excessive CAPs. They have a small impact on the community. Punishments for minor chat violations begin with short durations. If you continue to violate the rules, the duration will increase until a perm Mute is earned.
Since Minor Chat violations typically result in short punishments, please be certain your punishment was long enough to appeal. If the mute duration is 24 hours or less, the mute can not be appealed.
Moderate chat offenses have a negative impact on the community, but do not rise to the level of hate speech, harassment and other more serious violations. They include disrespect, inappropriate chat topics, impersonating players/staff and interfering with staffing. The punishments for these offenses lead to perm mute more rapidly than Minor chat violations.
A major offense is one that may cause offense to players/staff, or it may drive players away from reading chat. Examples are Hate Speech, Flame Wars, and Disrupting Chat.
A malicious offense can or does cause harm to the community. This is the most serious chat offense. Malicious offenses include doxing, swatting, IP Logging, death and threats. These offenses result in both permanent ban and permanent mute. These infractions may be appealed, but if found to be valid are rarely reduced to a shorter duration.
There are violations that do not fall into any of these categories. They, like all appeals, are decided on a case by case basis considering the seriousness and intent of the offense and the merit of the appeal.
Staff are required to collect evidence for all punishments given on all platforms. If an appeal is rejected you may be given an option to rebut the outcome. The evidence held against you will typically be provided. You may then choose to explain the situation that resulted in the punishment.
Under special circumstances, evidence will not be provided. These circumstances are as listed
- When the evidence contains private information
- When you have been punished for PvP hacks
- When your discord punishment is for being perm banned in-game
If your appeal is rejected, you will receive information on when you can appeal again. If you submit additional appeals without providing additional information you are unlikely to have the punishment reduced.
Yes, you may! However, staff may be forced to use a translator and some context may be lost in translation.
No, you can only appeal your own punishments. If a player is unable to appeal their own punishment, staff will assist them throughout that process.
All responses are real people! They are staff members who are available to handle your appeal.
Every appeal that is submitted will vary in terms of receiving a response on lifting or keeping the punishment in place. We have a process we put the appeal through once in reviewing. The decision to lift or keep the punishment will be determined as a team. This process can sometimes be lengthy. However, we try our best to respond as soon as possible.
If you are perm banned in game, you will be perm banned on Discord as well. Both in-game bans and Discord bans may be appealed on the Forums. Being unbanned in-game does not guarantee you will be unbanned on Discord.
Not everyone who is unbanned in-game will also be unbanned on the Discord. Often, players are required to show they can follow rules in-game before being allowed back on the Discord.
Yes of course! Your rank will be waiting for you in the game. If you do not see it you can type /claim
in game and claim it on the webstore!
Even when your main account is unbanned, your alt(s) may remain banned. When appealing your ban, you may request that your alt(s) be unbanned. However, this will be decided on a case by case basis. In some cases your alt(s) will remain banned until you have shown you can follow rules in-game.
If banned, you cannot transfer ownership of parties, islands, cubits or other items to other players.
No, players are no longer able to purchase unbans or unmutes on the ManaCube store. As of now, you must go through the appeal process for the Staff Team to consider lifting your punishment.
