Sieges are a non-destructive and PvP oriented clash between two or more nations. Both attacking and defending nations fight with their allies to ultimately have the opportunity to occupy and plunder the enemy. With this comes many different strategies to unify, conquer, and be victorious in a siege war.

To start any type of siege the attacking nation will need to place a colored banner outside the town they plan to siege. Doing this will start the Siege-Assembly. During the siege assembly period the attacking nation will need to gain 50 points within a 10 minute period. This gives the defending nation time to prepare their members before the siege officially begins. It also gives nearby players a warning that the town is under attack and PvP will be enabled after the 10 minutes has passed. To gain points during the Siege-Assembly at least one member of the attacking nation will need to stay within 16 blocks of the siege banner.

The banner must be placed in an accessible area placing the banner in an inaccessible area or destroying the terrain around the banner is NOT ALLOWED
To start a revolt siege the town that is occupied must place a colored banner outside of their town. This will start a revolt siege which will last for 3 days. During a revolt siege all of the features and mechanics of the siege are the same as a conquests siege. If the defenders win the siege they will be released from occupation.
A suppression siege can be started if the occupying nation places a colored banner outside the town they are occupying. This will start a suppression siege which will last for 3 days during a suppression siege all of the features and mechanics of the siege are the same as a conquests siege. If the attackers win the suppression siege they will be allowed to plunder the town again. If the defenders win they will be released from occupation.
A liberation siege occurs when an occupied non-peaceful town is sieged by an enemy nation of the town's occupying nation. The mechanics of a conquests siege also apply to a liberation siege; if the attackers win the siege they will seize occupation of the town from the previous occupying nation.
Nation A is occupying town A and then nation B who is enemies with nation A sieges town A by placing a colored banner outside of town A this will start a liberation siege.

for more information about sieges.
One of the most important parts of being successful in a sieging is to make sure that your nation members & allies are aware what sieges you are currently involved with. Many nation leaders will make sure their allies are aware of a potential siege before it happens.
Catching your enemy off guard can help earn you valuable points early in the siege. Not letting your defender know you're planning on attacking them ahead of time will help ensure that they will have to go into a siege they were not expecting. This can help neutralize their home town advantage.
It is always important to be prepared. You should always have a plan in place in the event that your town/nation is put under attack from the enemy. The faster you can prepare for combat the more likely you will be to win the siege. The attacking nation is nearly always ready for battle at the time they place the banner.
Having "safe shelters" around your town can help ensure that your residents remain safe during a potential siege. A simple glass building with a door to give a place that your residents can go in the event someone is attacking them inside the town.
